Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian and Chief of the Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force Basil Rajapaksa claims that development hitherto not witnessed in liberated areas, is now visible.
Mr. Rajapaksa said the intention of the President and the Government is to provide electricity, water, schools, health and irrigation facilities needed by the people. Anyone could witness the bridge in Mannar, the Arippu Bridge, the A-32 Road, the largest irrigation reservoir which is the Giant Tank and Arittakulam. All these are being reconstructed at present.
He was speaking after the commissioning an electrification scheme in the Mannar area. The Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force has launched mega development projects in Mannar. Work on the scheme to provide power supplies was accelerated and was commissioned yesterday. The entire area was devastated when it was dominated by the terrorists. However, massive development is now in place. The event was organised under the mediation of Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne. Minister Risath Bathiyudeen, Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri and many Defence officials were present.
